MBA student Nikola Popovic lands new position with global consulting firm McKinsey and Company

Nikola Popovic, currently an MBA student at the NIU College of Business, landed a new position with McKinsey and Company. McKinsey is one of the leaders in global management consulting, with a 90+ year history and offices in more than 130 cities and over 65 countries.

As a student in NIU’s accelerated program, Popovic will earn his master in business administration in one year’s time.

By taking on the position of data engineer for McKinsey, his new work responsibilities expanded greatly. Key among them is his role in developing data and reporting environments for the aerospace and defense practice, which provides industry insights to McKinsey’s clients.

Popovic credits his involvement in NIU’s one-year MBA program with helping him grow professionally.

“The program has given me a deeper understanding of organizational strategy and has given me the confidence to sell myself to continue pursuing my full career potential.”

He describes his excitement about his new role, saying that he will “have the opportunity to apply his technical knowledge to support challenging global projects that transform organizations alongside a team of very talented people.”

Popovic received his Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Illinois Wesleyan University and is now enrolled in NIU’s One Year MBA program. He is well on track to complete the program and anticipates graduating this December 2021.
