As part of the college’s partnership with WorldChicago, NIU Business Dean Balaji Rajagopalan traveled with a delegation to the Varazdin National Theatre in Croatia for a Voogle conference. The purpose of the conference is to bring together thought leaders from a variety of fields to explore possible future scenarios.
The conference kicked off with introductions from Karlo Kukec, TECH_PARK, Managing Director; Peggy Parfenoff, President of WorldChicago; Zlatan Avar, Deputy Mayor of Varaždin, and; Robert Kohorst, US Ambassador to Croatia. NIU Business Dean Rajagopalan led the presentations with a discussion of a possible future-reality and the impact of technology on the way we live. Dean Rajagopalan’s presentation was entitled “The Future is Here: Humans. Robots. Hubots.” Conference attendees shared that a key point in Dean Rajagopalan’s presentation is that as robots become more like us, we are becoming more like them.
In total, 14 experts in their fields gave inspiring presentations. Additional topics they covered include: how to build a community within a tech community, the power of peers, EU funds, creative entrepreneurs, digital health innovation, catalyzing the Balkans, among others. A Voogle startup battle, sponsored by Voogle Accelerator, concluded the event.
Tech Park ~ Varazdin of Croatia hosted the conference. Conference sponsors include WorldChicago, the U.S. Department of State, Enterprise Europe Network, and the European Commission.
