Are you attending NIU on any scholarships? Which one(s)?
Yes. An alumni scholarship, the Daniel Parmenter Memorial Scholarship and an institutional tuition waiver.

How did you learn about NIU, and why did you choose to attend?
NIU emailed me when I was a senior in high school. I researched the university and fell in love with the opportunities provided by the College of Business — a diverse set of student business organizations, useful resources for students, and very caring faculty and staff.

Are you involved in any activities at NIU?
I have been member of Pi Sigma Epsilon since my first semester as a freshman at NIU. I am also a member of the College of Business Dean’s Student Advisory Board, a student worker for College of Business Advancement Office, and co-project manager of Barsema’s Closet.

What has been your favorite event at NIU, and why?
My favorite event at NIU has been the Internship and Job Fair because every year I have been, I have created connections and met business professionals and students I can learn from.

What do you like about our campus and community?
I love that the NIU community is very supportive, and that I am surrounded by likeminded individuals who I can learn from.

What has your experience inside the classroom been like at NIU?
My classroom experience has been very hands on and challenging.

What is something you have experienced at NIU that you will be able to take with you into future endeavors in your field?
Planning and executing Barsema’s Closet with Emma Stettner is an experience I will take into my future endeavors. This challenging project has shown me I can do anything I set my mind to no matter the scale, and overall, the experience shaped me into a more strategic businesswoman.

Would you recommend NIU to others and why? What’s a general piece of advice you’d give to someone starting college?
Yes! I would recommend NIU to others because the university provides students with experiential learning experiences and there is some type of organization for everyone! One piece of advice I would give to students starting college is to push yourself and do things that make you a little nervous, because the more challenges you face, the more you will learn and grow.

What is up next for you after your time at NIU? Any career aspirations you would like to share?
After I graduate in May, I will start the next chapter of my life as a sales development representative at Qualtrics in Provo, Utah.

Note:  Cordnei graduated from NIU Business in May 2019 and has started her professional career with Qualtrics.
