As you may know, I worked in the airline industry for many years because I love to travel. I was bitten by the travel bug and it brought me wonderful experiences, diversity of thought, as well as the love of languages, food and culture.
I now work at NIU’s College of Business — after volunteering at an orphanage in Guatemala — because I want to make a more personal impact on the lives of students who want to fulfill their dream of a college education. As you know, many of the students at NIU are first generation, living at home, helping to raise their younger siblings, and working to help pay the family bills. You might also conclude that many students would like to take advantage of travel but don’t have the funds to do so.
We would like your help in getting the word out to your network that our Northern Adventures Travel Fund needs donors. Again, our efforts include crowdfunding, a technique used to raise small amounts of money from a large number of people.
You are a success story. You most likely travelled abroad, embracing the ideas and perspectives from other countries and cultures. Perhaps you were involved in study abroad while a college student. You most certainly were enriched by the experience.
Please consider donating to our Northern Adventures fund raiser or share my posts with your network.
Your efforts will help deserving students bring greater value and success to others and build more inclusive communities.
