One-year MBA student Lum Sadiku named energy sustainability manager at Ozinga, Inc.

Lum Sadiku, currently an MBA student at the NIU College of Business, recently landed a new position with Ozinga, Inc., where he was named energy sustainability manager.

Established in 1928, Ozinga is a family-owned, fourth generation business that currently provides concrete, bulk materials and energy solutions while offering transportation services through an extensive network of truck, rail, barge, and ship terminals. The company meets the needs of builders throughout Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Michigan, and South Florida.

As the company’s energy sustainability manager, Sadiku heads up Ozinga’s energy efficiency efforts. He credits the content in NIU’s accelerated MBA format with helping him to advance his career.

Sadiku says, “Every course I have taken has raised my knowledge base, developed my skills, and boosted my confidence to a level where I see no obstacles on the road to success.”

As Ozinga’s energy sustainability manager, he monitors energy and material consumption in facilities by performing site audits and conducting energy and sustainability analyses. He’s also responsible for identifying opportunities to increase building efficiencies, promote renewable resources, and minimize the social, environmental, and financial impacts of the company’s operations.

“The start of a new position is always exciting,” Sadiku says, then adds, “Every day, companies everywhere are trying to take a more efficient approach to their operations. Being part of one of the largest concrete companies in the Midwest and even leading the way in this change will be a great challenge but also be a source of great satisfaction when the results are achieved.”

Sadiku received his Bachelor of Science in Energy Engineering at the University of Business and Technology, located in Kosovo. He is pursuing his MBA through the NIU College of Business one year MBA and is well on track to graduate this December 2021.
