Our Department of Accountancy celebrated our remarkable student body along with our dedicated faculty, staff and alumni at an appreciation dinner in April.
“Our celebration helps recognize the role that our outstanding alumni and distinguished faculty play in our mission to advance a learning environment that educates and engages students,” said Brad Cripe, Donald E. Kieso Endowed Chair of Accountancy.
The event was held in the Duke Ellington Ballroom of the NIU Holmes Student Center. Students had the opportunity to meet alumni and faculty who have supported them through their studies.

- Donald Tidrick, Ph.D., Deloitte Professor of Accountancy Emeritus.
Excellence in Teaching in Accountancy Award
- Candice Hux, Ph.D., associate professor.
Excellence in Instruction in Accountancy Award
- Tim Dimond, instructor.

- Shaokun (Carol) Yu, Ph.D., William F. Doyle Endowed Professor of Accountancy.

- Meghann Cefaratti, Ph.D., Deloitte Foundation Professor of Accountancy.
“Our alumni play a critical role in supporting our faculty, affirming the relevance and rigor of our curriculum, and providing career opportunities and financial support to our students,” Cripe said. “The accountancy department is among the nation’s best because we integrate our faculty’s strong theoretical and technical knowledge with the practical expertise of our alumni and stakeholders. This integration provides an outstanding educational experience for our students. This event serves to highlight the relationship between our faculty and alumni, and honors those who work so hard to provide an exceptional education for our students.”
