Barsema’s Closet Offers Used Clothing at a Discount for All Huskies

Barsema’s Closet — a campus resource for gently used business attire — is committed to assuring every student has access to quality, professional clothing and accessories.

This nonprofit organization, which is held in Room 309 in Barsema Hall, accepts Huskie Bucks to provide a more accessible shopping experience to our students. The clothing, which is donated by alumni, faculty and other friends of the college, has positively impacted the lives of countless NIU Huskies since its inception in 2019.

This spring, as you gear up for career fairs and interviews, please consider visiting Barsema’s Closet for your professional wardrobe. Barsema’s Closet is open to all NIU students 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesdays during the spring 2025 semester.

“Barsema’s Closet is a wonderful resource for students both inside and outside the College of Business,” said Annika Salcher, NIU business student and executive manager of Barsema’s Closet. “Whether you are preparing for a career fair, job interview or internship, feeling and dressing your best is key. Barsema’s Closet is here for you every step of the way to provide quality and affordable professional attire in a wide selection of styles.”

Barsema’s Closet offers this support to NIU students through a sustainable foundation with clothing donations from faculty and alumni. If you have professional attire in good condition, reach out to barsemascloset@gmail.com to coordinate a donation.

Students rely on Barsema’s Closet from across campus. The 2023-24 academic year brought record-breaking sales with 595 items being sold. Best-selling items were suit jackets, ties, two-piece suits, button-up shirts and pants.
