Gina Nicolosi, whose current term as Chair of the Department of Finance ends at the close of June, has enthusiastically agreed to extend her role into a new term.
Gina’s achievements as the Chair of Finance are many and varied. Under her leadership, the department has realized both increased student interest, increased alumni and industry engagement, as well as many exciting curricular innovations. Some of those new programs include FinTech as well as several professional certifications such as Bloomberg Terminal proficiency, all of which are cutting edge and necessary for a successful career in the finance field as well as the Fourth Industrial Revolution. At the same time, Gina has built upon the long-term success of the Student Managed Portfolio, the Chartered Financial Analyst relationship and the overall finance curriculum.
Through Gina’s outstanding leadership and in partnership with the department’s exceptional faculty and staff, the finance program has made substantial strides in showcasing its rigor, prestige, and growing reputation. An immediate case in point is the outstanding year-over-year performance of the NIU student finance teams in the CFA industry challenge, an intense six-month competition that involves students from thousands of universities around the world and a multitude of industry experts.
On a college-wide basis, Gina continues to be an instrumental leader and team member as well, most notably in the creation of many exciting college-wide initiatives such as the annual NIU Business Olympics and more recently, the college’s first-ever virtual commencement ceremony for Spring 2020 NIU Business graduates.
